Temporary 50mph signs in place on small section of A1M, just before Scotch Corner junction

Reported anonymously at 18:37, Tuesday 13 July 2021

There is a small section that has 50mph signs in place but no reason as to why. There are no road works here, no obstructions or defects. One sign mentions flooding, however when travelling through during and after heavy rain, the road is fine. Potentially the signs have been left out after a historic flooding incident. As a result, few vehicles are obeying the temporary speed limit, which poses a hazard to those that are, especially as it is at a location where the left hand lane splits off, meaning other drivers both undertake and overtake cars obeying the temporary limit in the second lane (slow lane of the A1M). Flagging as suggested this should be removed in the interests of road safety, or for better signage as to why a temporary limit is in place.
