40 MPH Limit on A1307 Huntingdon

Reported anonymously at 16:25, Wednesday 21 July 2021

Dear Highways England - You kindly explained that the reason for the 40-mph limit on this section of the A1307 is that the central barrier needs upgrading for safety reasons, and that this is scheduled for March 2022. You also explained that your contractor will be amending the signage to explain that the 40-mph limit is 'for safety reasons'. I seriously doubt that this will make any difference, drivers will still speed along this section because it has the appearance of a perfect section of dual carriageway. Would it be possible to reinstate the average speed cameras along this section of road? I believe that this is the only thing that will make drivers slow down. (I passed long-term road works on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds recently that have mobile average speed cameras to enforce the 40-mph limit, and they work excellently) Many thanks and regards.
