Only a quarter of all street lights on the central reservation are working and has been like this for several months, it is causing inconsistent light levels across the motorway.
We were having problems with various lamp outages around junction 1, on inspection of the feeder pillar which provides power to the area it was found to be overheating and causing blacking around the terminals and cabling. As there is a footway passing the feeder pillar and it is in close proximity to two schools, the decision was made to shut the power off. We have a scheme in the forward programme to rectify this problem, which is currently scheduled for 2020/2021.
