Faulty Large Matrix Display Sign on A46

Reported in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 18:48, Sat 16 November 2019

Sent to Highways England 1 minute later

A46 - Northbound (Between Cotgrave and Saxondale junctions, Nottinghamshire) Roadside location marker: 42/7 Sign reference number (affixed to sign stanchion): 4427A

The above large matrix display sign on the A46 has been faulty for a long time.

I travel the road regularly, and it usually features parts of the sign that light up with random corrupted characters. It never displays anything intelligible.

I presume Highways England are aware it is not working properly? Or maybe nobody else has reported the fault?

If the display is not working correctly, it would be better turned off completely than continue to flash random amber-coloured garbage / characters as motorist drive by.
