Sunken trench and sunken manhole cover

Reported in the Road surface category anonymously at 10:39, Saturday 8 August 2020

Sent to Highways England less than a minute later

I live at No. 64, Barnhorn Road. Outside of No.70 a trench leading from the foot way to the central island has sunk and when heavy lorries pass the noise and vibration is very bad, this has got steadily worse and is now waking me up at night. ALSO about 20yds west of j/w Kites Nest Walk manhole cover has sunk and every time a vehicle drives over it, it makes a very loud banging noise. Also at this same point the anti skid surface on the approach to the Zebra Crossing is badly broken up, I reported this to you in July 2019 when it first started and it is now August 2020 and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.

  • You sent me a message stating that the developers of a nearby building site had admitted to you that they were responsable for the state of this trench and that they would put the matter right. as of today 3/10/2001 NOTHING has been done. The noise and vibration from passing heavy lorries is getting worse. Might i suggest that as this road IS YOUR RESPONSABILITY that YOU take that responsability and get the work done and send the bill to the building developer.
