Cycle path crossing fast moving traffic at slip road to garage
Reported in the Pavement/footpath issue category anonymously at 14:47, Friday 14 August 2020
Sent to Highways England less than a minute later
Traffic enters the slip road at speed and with little awareness of crossing cyclists. Cyclists travelling in an easterly direction can only look over their right shoulder with difficulty and cannot judge the speed of traffic approaching from behind, particularly if drivers are not signalling.
There is no category for this sort of problem and you should review your categorisation to include cycling issues. I have allocated it to the "footpath" category.
Thank you for contacting Highways England. We have passed you report regarding your concerns over cyclist safety to our local inspector who will review the issue on their next safety check.
We aim to provide a further update no later than 20 August 2020.

Thank you for your patience whilst our inspector reviewed your report. During the review our inspector doesn’t feel that this is causing any safety concerns at this time and remedial work isn’t required.
We do appreciate your comments about cars not signalling but unfortunately we can't control driver behaviour. For cyclists own safety we would always advise you to dismount and walk across a road where possible.
Our inspector will continue to review the area on their weekly safety checks and will arrange any required work if the situation changes.
We would like to thank you for contacting us about your concerns. If you require any further update on this issue our Customer Contact Centre is available 24 hours a day at:
