Stonework covered in soot - underpass built as part of redevelopment of the main route - terms of the plannning permission were to use reproduced Bath Ashlar stone to keep in line with the World Heritage and preservation status - this stone work is now covered in black soot making it look filthy and completely detracting from the pleasant stone colour. It is now obviously not in keeping with the original proposed planning consent and needs to be pressure washed clean more regularly than what it currently is.
