Light Bollards missing in central reservation where cycle lane crosses A5
Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 16:28, Wed 2 December 2020
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2415262.
Around a year ago the bollards were removed by a RTA. Crossing the A5 at any time is dangerous but standing in the middle of the road without the bollards makes one feel even more exposed. The cycle lane either side the A5 also needs a good clean. It is covered with debris and mud from lorries exiting the adjacent recycling yard. Thanks.

We are now 6 weeks past the 'update' date. Still no action! Please also see the problem below. Reported to Leicestershire CC last week and they referred me to you. The cycle lane is even worse now.
"The cycle lane at the top of Lutterworth Road, Burbage and adjacent to the A5 (See map ref above) is now in a disgusting and dangerous state. I rode the cycle lane today and found the following:
- A farmer has cut the hedge by the cycle lane and left the lane covered in small hedge cuttings. These are probably hawthorn or whitethorn. A puncture waiting to happen.
- The lane is covered in many areas with thick mud and vegetation.
- Debris from the main carriageway has been thrown up onto the cycle lane This included glass and sharp plastic parts presumably from vehicles.
- Contractors have blocked the cycle lane with signs relating to work ongoing nearer the new DPD depot off the A5.
Add to the above the fact that the marker bollards where the lane crosses the A5 have been missing for over a year, and you can see that there is a problem that needs attention soon, and before an accident occurs that could have been avoided."
Thanks,
Phil Nevett.
