Drains have been tarmac’d over and road now the same height as the kerb stones.

After being flooded just before Christmas and Anglia Water telling me it wasn’t their responsibility, I have further investigated the causes. There seems to be two main issues: 1. The existing drains and gully’s have been tarmac’d over which means there is nowhere for the excess surface water to drain away to. I think this applies to at least 3 gully’s culminating in excessive water outside our door (41 Watling Street Potterspury) each time it rains and flooding just before Christmas. 2. The A5 has been resurfaced on several occasions leading to the road being the same height as the kerb stones. This means that excess water from the road floods over the grass and pavement and into our front door. It also causes flooding further down the A5 where the road dips. We only moved into our house in September so I have only been aware of the problem since then. I have spoken to the Parish Council who said as the A5 is a trunk road, it is Highways responsibility. I am now very concerned as heavy rain is forecast again later today (20th Jan 2021).
