Sent to Highways England less than a minute later
A11 SBC Worsted Lodge near lay-by there is a series of potholes near to the centre white line where the road surface has broken away. measuring approx 12’ in length and 9” in width x 2” in depth that are a danger to motorcycles. Further south of this location is a further single large pothole near the centre of the road approx 12”x 12” x 2” again a danger to a motorcycle.
Thank you for contacting Highways England.
The potholes mentioned first were filled on Wednesday 20th. Our Inspector has since checked and can confirm that the temporary repairs are holding. A job has been raised to have a thermal patch repair carried out, which is a longer lasting solution than cold lay tarmac.
The second defect (further South) is currently not a safety defect according to our Defect Category Guidance Notes (DCGN). It does fit the criteria for repair within 28 days, so a defect for thermal patch repair has been raised.
Additionally, a small works business case has been raised. Considerations will then be made as to whether or not to proceed with permanent repairs. The business case calls for permanent machine laid pavement repairs, and runs through both areas which have been reported.
