Sent to Highways England less than a minute later
Road floods across both lanes in multible , extrem flooding in 2 locations due to blocked and badly maintained french drain on nearside verge and gullies on central reservation , opinion is that mud has blocked underground drainage and water collecting sumps . Seen multiple accidents and damaged vehicles in area due to aquaplaining and hitting deep flood waters at speed. Central crash barrier damaged in multiple areas. Vehicle bodywork laying in central area dislodged by water damage. Please note I have informed locals and that if accidents accure I will inform them of ongoing issue caused by poor and failed maintenance .for more details my number is 07721650931
Thank you for contacting Highways England about flooding on the A14.
We are aware of this and repair works are planned.
The flooding is due to the central reservation gully tops becoming thatched with detritus which stops the free flow of water. The volume of water we have had recently is a contributing factor to the thatching.
We will provide a further update to confirm when the work has been completed.
Kind regards Highways England
