Street lighting out.

Reported via desktop in the Street lighting category anonymously at 10:33, Tuesday 9 February 2021

Sent to Highways England less than a minute later

The street lighting is out in this section. This is made worse by the fact the drains are blocked and leads to complete flooding across the road at this exact location. It is hazardous for drivers and pedestrians. I have been soaked to the sink after a lorry driver failed to notice it (most likely because the road was not illuminated properly) and hit the flooded road at full speed.

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England about the lighting and drainage .

We appreciate your bringing the lighting issue to our attention and will be passing your comments onto our Service Manager for them to investigate further.

With regard to the flooding issue, we’re aware that this and are will be clearing the gully tops by the end of March. In the longer term, we’re planning a larger drainage scheme to help with the problem, which is currently in the design stage.

    Kind regards Highways England
