Street lighting on the A47 over the A1 at Wansford are either day day or illuminated 24 hours per day. This problem has been ongoing for between 4 and 6 months
Thank you for contacting Highways England. We are aware of the issues with the Street lighting on the A47. The lighting is operated from a photocell which tells the lighting unit when it is dark to switch the light on, and when it is daylight to switch the light off. When the photocell fails the lights operate 24/7. Whilst this is not ideal it does mean that the lights are operating during the night when they are needed. Our priority is to return lights to operation and works to install new photocells is therefore normally carried out during ongoing maintenance programmes to carry out bulk lamp changes. The next bulk lamp change in Wansford is due summer 2021. We continue to monitor outages and should there be repair works required in the area then we will incorporate the photocell replacements at the same time. Kind Regards Highways England
