On A1 between Stamford and Peterborough, and A605 between Oundle and Peterborough
Reported via desktop in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 16:27, Mon 15 February 2021
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2547482.
The amount of litter/ flytipping along these stretches of road is beyond belief - it is like driving through a rubbish tip. This is in laybys in huge quantities as well as scattered through roadside vegetation and verges, filthy, unsightly and an increasing menace to wildlife. This should be cleared as a matter if urgency, as every day the amount of rubbish is increasing. Surely this is a good time to do a mass clearance, as there is less traffic on roads right now.

Finally another person that is absolutely horrified at the amount of litter/flytipping everywhere. I drive this route every day and it is absolutely shocking. Took to trying to clear up a section of footpath along the A1 near Wittering myself (quickly filled 3 large bags of litter in around 200metres. The litter everywhere is seriously depressing, and the country is turning into a rubbish tip. Unfortunately your report has been sent to Highways England. They are only responsible for cleansing motorway verges/laybys and a few major trunk roads. The stretch of A1 between A1M and Wansford is the responsibility of Huntingdonshire county council. I have been trying for months for them to clear the laybys/verge, and install bins in the laybys. The stretch of A1 from A47 to Stamford is the responsibility of Peterborough city council. I also have reported numerous times the amount of litter along this stretch. Regarding the A605 I'm not sure but could be the responsibility of Northampshire council and /or Peterborough.
