I would like to complain about the amount of litter at j28 on the M1 and the A38 both east and west going towards Mansfield . The amount of litter is a disgrace and I look to the Highways England to resolve the problem . The amount of litter and the size of the items is both an eyesore and a danger to traffic and road users . It looks that the agency is not addressing its responsibilities to keep little to a minimum on our roads especially a busy road as the A38 . I ask as a matter of urgency this issues is resolved to remove the disgraceful situation we have at J28 and along the A38 . What is this country coming to

Thank you for your patience whilst our inspector reviewed your report. During the review our inspector doesn’t feel that this is causing any safety concerns at this time and remedial work isn’t required. The removal of litter on a Trunk Road is the responsibility of the local authority - please note this is not the County Council in accordance with the Environment Protection Act. The A38 in the area described would be the responsibility of Ashfield and Bolsover District Council's. The report need to be redirect to the local authorities.
We will continue to review this and will arrange any required work if the situation changes.
