Would it be possible to assign a sweeper to remove the excessive amounts of litter, debris and traffic dirt from the concrete verges of the underpasses during the planned closure in March? This is a city centre location and it isn’t conducive to the efforts of others in improving the city. This will also prevent further surface water flooding of the carriageway (and thus avoidable congestion on the strategic road network and associated economic losses) - the gulleys are clearing being impacted by the dirt and silt.
The removal of litter on a trunk road is the responsibility of the local authority in accordance with the environment Protection Act 1990. This report needs to be redirected to Stoke City Council.
We will continue to review this and will arrange any required work if the situation changes.
