Filter arrows on slip road are wrong way round

Reported via desktop in the Road markings category anonymously at 22:27, Friday 5 March 2021

Sent to Highways England less than a minute later

The filter arrows on this slip road have been changed from pointing right to left to pointing left to right. This is potentially dangerous and wrong to filter the primary left hand lane used by most traffic and all heavy goods vehicles into the right right hand lane. On the roundabout at the traffic lights before this slip road there are three lanes marked and signed sensibly and correctly. The left hand lane is marked A508 only. The middle lane is marked M1 north only. The right hand lane is marked M1 north and other routes. This is why most traffic and all heavy goods use the Middle lane for M1 north. This middle lane becomes the left hand lane on the slip road but the change to the lane filter arrows makes this primary lane now filter into the right hand lane which is a dangerous and inappropriate change to make. The arrows should be returned to point right to left to filter the secondary lane into the primary.

  • I noticed that at the entry to the slip road there is still one of the original filter arrows pointing the other way even though the other original arrows were erased.
