Plastic tree protectors not being removed

Reported via desktop in the Vegetation (grass/hedges/trees) category anonymously at 14:47, Saturday 20 March 2021

Sent to Highways England less than a minute later

Highways England are planting lots of trees which is fantastic. However, the plastic protectors are very often never removed once the trees have matured after 3 or 4 years. Can you stop using this plastic in the first place, use biodegradable ones. Then make sure they are always removed (including all the cable ties). The countryside is becoming littered with these plastic protectors. You could also use red ones so they are more obvious and will then be removed as they are an eyesore. Plastic is a real problem, HE could take a real lead on this problem to show other organisations how to manage this problem, which is getting worse and worse. Thanks
