Sent to National Highways less than a minute later
There are what appears to be two large dead badgers on the side of the road heading to eye from dogsthorpe. I am concerned because they are large enough to be mistaken for a dog and I am concerned someone may have an accident stopping thinking it is someone’s family pet. It has been there a week or so.
Thank you for contacting Highways England.
Unfortunately we do not collect dead animals from the verges of the network unless they are household pets such as a dog or a cat as they will be scanned and returned to their owner if possible. If an animal was to be in a live lane or carriageway then we would respond as this poses a safety risk, if they are along the verge and not in the live carriageway then we will not remove them as it exposes our workers to an unnecessary risk.
Kind Regards Highways England
