Litter on highway verges from Alnwick to Purdy Lodge A1 several miles on both sides of carriageway.

  • Thank you for your patience whilst we investigated this for you.

    We can confirm that as the A1 is classed as an All Purpose Trunk Road throughout Northumberland the litter clearance duties lie with the local authority under the Environmental Protection Act. In this case the local authority is Northumberland County Council. They are carrying out litter picking on the A1 at the moment and should reach this location soon.
