Wide new access being created

Reported via desktop in the Roadworks category anonymously at 06:45, Thursday 6 May 2021

Sent to Highways England less than a minute later

A narrow farm gate has been considerably widened yesterday (5 May) and hardcore laid in the entrance. The field which this gives access to was used as an unofficial traveller site some years back and it is very likely that these works are to enable access again for that purpose - possibly today. A new wide access directly off a 70mph dual carriageway would be very dangerous and presumably needs Highways consent. Is it possible to make a new barrier (concrete blocks) etc in the Highway verge to restrict the access to its original size and so prevent large vehicles using it? Police and Lichfield District Council are aware.
