Main dual-use path needs attention / siding out

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath issue category anonymously at 15:48, Wednesday 19 May 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

The path in question is apparently the responsibility of Highways England. This well used cycle & pedestrian access from West Way (Botley) across A420 to Wytham Rd, alongside A34 slip access, is in a neglected/ narrowing state and badly needs siding out. The whole path requires attention, as it is a main 'active travel' route north/south, West of the Thames. The path is now too narrow for bikes/peds to pass properly, as was obvious the other day.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England about maintaining the cycle & pedestrian footpath that runs along the A34 in Oxfordshire.

We are aware of this and the vegetation has been logged for clearance. At present, I'm unable to provide a better timescale on this however I've been assured the area will be continually monitored.

With regards to the request for siding out the footpath, I can confirm we have no current plans to amend the footpath however your request has added to our needs register. This area will be continually monitored.

We will provide a further update to confirm when the work has been completed.

    Kind regards Highways England
