Missing Road Signs

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue category anonymously at 12:37, Thursday 20 May 2021

Sent to Highways England less than a minute later

Over the years so many cars have crashed into this area knocking down the signs that there are now none left to advise of this tight bend into the village. These are damaged and never replaced. Suffolk Highways have confirmed this is an issue for Highways England as forms part of the signage for the A12 junction. It is very dangerous now with cars exiting the A12 at 70mph not realising the very sharp bend.

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England.

I would like to apologise for the length of time it has taken to provide you with an update.

I have spoken to our highways inspectors and as far as we are aware there have never been any chevrons located in this area.

There are a few signs that have been damaged recently, but there is some dispute in regards to if they are local authorities or ours. We wouldn't have put a chevron sign on the island as it would obscure peoples view as they come onto the entry slip. However we are trying to get approval for temporary signs on the exit slip.

    Kind Regards Highways England
