Location: A30/303 on Redducks Hill above Stoneburrow and Bear Ashoka cottages.Roadworks this week have now left two manhole/drain covers loose in some way in westbound side of A303 and this results in loud bangs each time a vehicle passes over them. As you can imagine there is constant traffic day and night . This is a double concern - the constant noise and the safety aspect, it cannot be fitted correctly?

  • Thank you for your patience whilst our inspector reviewed your report. We're sorry for the disruption these covers have caused you.

The drain cover isn't one that belongs to us and so isn't ours to maintain. However we have raised a notice with Vodafone, who are now aware of the issues and will take any action necessary. We will continue to monitor the drain as part of our routine safety inspections.

We hope this answers your enquiry. If you have any further queries, please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@highwaysengland.co.uk

    Kind regards Highways England
