Inadequate signage

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue category anonymously at 13:12, Thursday 27 May 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

The sign says "Manchester Airport". That is correct. But there is no indication that this is the way to reach A555 Eastbound towards A6 and Buxton (the new airport access route). This important newly-opened east-west route saves MILES and AVOIDS NEEDLESS POLLUTION (CLIMATE CHANGE!). The sign should say Manchester Airport A555 (A6). More signs A555 (A6) need adding within the airport to clarify the route (either following T2 or T1 T3).

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England regarding signage for the A555.

The A555 scheme was a local authority project. Any change to signage on the Highways England network should be requested by the local authority as part of the construction scheme. The responsibility for this issue, on this road, is that of Manchester City Council.

Could we please ask that you contact them to resolve.

Contact details for local authorities can be found by using the search facility at: www.gov.uk/find-your-local-council.

    Thank you,

    Highways England
