Pothole/sunken area; inside lane; southbound
Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 19:37, Tue 15 June 2021
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2794526.
Every vehicle using the inside southbound lane thumps into/over the damaged area, causing huge disturbance, as it sounds like gunshots. The damaged area is at right angles to the carriageway, and extends 2/3rds of the width of the carriageway. This results in tens of thousands of gunshot sounds every day, over and above the daily noise of the traffic. I live at 31 York Avenue

The work has either failed to resolve the problem, or another damaged area has been repaired by mistake. The gunshot noises are still occuring with the same regularity and frequency. I would be grateful for this to receive your urgent attention as sleep disturbance is now a problem on these summer nights.

This is still causing a loud noise problem making it difecult to sleep. I think the issue could be on the slip lane.

Its now almost two months since the issue was reported here on this database, and as yet, Highways England has failed to resolve or even post a date for a resolution to the problem. To make matters worse, Highways England has reported the problem as Resolved when it quite clearly has not been, has reported a repair as being carried out when none has, as has not acknowledged the comments posted here since the alleged repair was carried out. Please confirm that someone is monitoring this thread and that remedial action is being planned to resolve the problem on the carriageway.
