Overgrown verges - obstructing pavements

Reported via desktop in the Vegetation (grass/hedges/trees) category anonymously at 12:11, Friday 9 July 2021

Sent to Highways England less than a minute later

The grass verges along the A590 between Lindal in Furness and Swarthmoor are massively overgrown, some of the grass is as tall as my 10 year old daughter. It makes walking along the pavements difficult and we often have to try and climb over overgrown brambles. It is really inconvenient for pushchairs and dog walkers and they desperately need to be cut back. I understand that the hedges cannot be cut due to birds nesting however, this should not impact on the verges and the comfort and safety of pedestrians is being compromised. The verges through Lindal have been cut back and the difference between the two villages is astounding. Swarthmoor and Pennington look scruffy, unkempt and uncared for. This really needs looking at as a matter of importance - especially with the holidays approaching and likelihood that there will be more walkers on the pavements.
