Lane directions are wrong when lights are not working
Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 20:39, Friday 9 July 2021
Sent to Highways England less than a minute later
The exit from the m56 states left lane for a556 and a56 Lymm. But the exit from Bowden roundabouts states both lanes are for the a556. The lights are down and have a lights not working sign up but the lane signs haven’t been adjusted meaning that anyone in the right lane going to the a556 can cut across the left lane which is used to continue round to the a56 to Lymm. It’s not designed to work without lights unless you change the lane instructions.
Thank you for contacting Highways England concerning the road markings and traffic signals at Bowden Roundabout. We shall look into this issue and aim to provide a response by 22 July.
Can we please ask that you check back on this date for an update.

Thank you for your patience while we reviewed your report. Works to replace the traffic signals here will be completed by 31 July. In the meantime we will monitor the junction for safety. Although we always aim to complete the repairs as planned, the date may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Kind regards Highways England
