Wrongs signage compared to new markings on the road at the spittle‘s roundabout heading from Brampton hut towards Huntingdon.
I have nearly had an accident there this morning in my hgv, due to people being in the incorrect lane for the roundabout. This is due to the signage being completely different to what is now newly printed on the road.
The left lane on the roundabout, now is a left turn only for the a 1307, The middle and right-hand lane are now to go straight over the roundabout into Huntingdon or obviously right the way round the roundabout back towards Brampton hut. The road sign however, states left lane to head north on the a1307 towards a1, and straight into Huntingdon. Middle straight into Huntingdon and right around toward the old a14. Then the right lane to go right onto old a14, and also back towards Brampton hut.
There is going to be a serious accident here, if the signage is not changed or a temporary lane sign put up.
I would say this is a large cause for concern and requires immediate attention.
I wish to report the same issue, of the 5 times I've travelled on the same roundabout since the signage. I've witnessed 5 near misses and 3 of those times I e nearly been hit! You need to sort this issue out immediately!

Absolutely dangerous, this is ridiculous. Why has the road markings changed and for the worse? The road markings are different to the signage leading people in the left hand lane going straight on as the signage says all lanes go straight! Despite the road saying left only. There is no pre warning that the signage has changed for locals and everyone and their mate in lanes 1,2 and 3 think they can go straight on leading to near misses Everytime! Soon enough there will be an accident if there hasn't been already.

Same problem. Very dangerous, almost had a car crash into me. Signs incorrect and no signs saying new road layout!

This road is very dangerous as there are no warning signs the junction has been changed and the road markings and signage are extremely poor and considering a major change has occurred I believe this is negligence. I have used this junction I have had a near miss pretty much every time as vehicles in the left hand lane go straight over oblivious to the changes. There will be a serious accident here before long and this junction needs urgent attention please. It wouldn't actually take much to resolve in time and cost. Just need someone with some common sense kind regards

I have seen HE have amended the signs. Unfortunately it shows that majority of drivers do not read the signs.
There is now a sign stating new road layout. And the lane signs have been amended.
Unfortunately in the sun the road still looks printed the old way. There WILL be a severe accident there in the near future for sure.

Thank you for contacting Highways England regarding Spittals roundabout.
The changes we’re making at the junction are a result of a design to make sure the correct destination signs are in place for the A1307 and A141. In order to manage the traffic, rather than closing the junction completely, we’ve done the work in phases around the roundabout. The road marking layout on the eastbound approach to Spittals is the last phase which is due to be finished early this week. Also, once all our changes are complete, a road safety audit will be done to highlight if there are any safety concerns which need addressing.
Lane 1 is now a dedicated left hand filter lane, solely intended for drivers wishing to exit Spittals roundabout and head northbound along the A1307 towards the A1M. Lanes 2 and 3 are for drivers continuing to travel on the A141 eastbound, or exiting Spittals roundabout to head southbound along the A1307.
As with any changes to the road layout on our SRN, we have installed temporary signs on the approach to Spittals roundabout, advising that the road layout has changed. As a temporary solution, we’ve also masked off the incorrect information on the approaching signs while replacement signs are being obtained. This ensures that the information on the signs matches the road markings on the approach to the roundabout, which should make it clear for approaching drivers which lane to take for their journey.
We apologise if these temporary measures have caused some confusion and not been very clear. We’re finishing the work by installing lane markings on the roundabout early this week and the straight ahead arrow in the inside lane will be hydro-blasted.
Thank you again for contacting us
Kind Regards Highways England
