Lots of accidents on haydock island, traffic lights have grills over the lights which make it hard to use difficult to see clearly. Can these be removed ?? Especially when leaving motorway free m Wigan side I have spoken to our local councillor whose aware of problem and has asked me to refer problem to yourselves I’m Diana VERNON 07948191584
Thank you for your patience whilst our engineer reviewed your report. The traffic light louvers have been installed as per a pre-approved design in accordance with the industry standards, ensuring safety of the junction is upheld. Louvres are used to reduce the possibility of drivers viewing signals not intended for their approach to the signals. Although removing these could improve visibility for the drivers they are intended for, they could also introduce an additional hazard for drivers who they’re not intended for by looking at the wrong signals and encouraging red light violations / unsafe behaviours.
Therefore as the louvers at this particular location are a safety related feature, unfortunately we cannot consider their removal in this instance. Please note this is a public site, we do not recommend including personal information such as your name and phone number.
