Obscured intervisibility for merging vehicles onto A34

Reported via desktop in the Vegetation (grass/hedges/trees) category anonymously at 10:22, Thursday 29 July 2021

Sent to Highways England less than a minute later

The grass verge between the merge lane and mainline carriageway exceeds the requirements for which visibility must be demonstrated in accordance with DMRB. During merging yesterday, a HGV in the nearside lane was obscured by vegetation resulting in a near miss. There is little opportunity for vehicles on the mainline to see drivers emerging from the slip and equally from the slip looking towards the mainline. This is a critical issue that needs addressing as soon as possible.
