Footbridge over the motorway
Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) category anonymously at 11:21, Thursday 29 July 2021

The local authority advise they are not responsible for this bridge but you are. It is known by locals as the bouncy bridge because as you walk over it feels like it bounces in the middle. On Monday the amount of movement/bounce was so noticeable it was frightening. Two other walkers said they also thought it was worse than ever before. Please could someone investigate as I am concerned of how safe it is.

Thank you for your patience whilst our bridge inspector reviewed your report. During the review our inspector doesn’t feel that this is causing any safety concerns at this time and remedial work isn’t required. Our last bridge inspection in June 2020 did not identify any bouncing effect.
We will continue to review this and will arrange any required work if the situation changes.
