The traffic emerging from the A52 Clifton Boulevard on 3 lanes, particularly in rush hour makes it very difficult to get onto the roundabout from the A60, emerging from West Bridgford. The circulation speed is far too fast and the traffic from the A52 approaches the roundabout far too fast. This roundabout needs to be observed urgently, particularly in rush hour to see what can be done to make it safer in the short and long term before there is a major accident. The traffic emerging from the A52 needs to be warned to slow down as they approach the roundabout at the very least. I was emerging from the A60 last week when a bus in front of me had to creep out and put his hand out of his window to indicate to the traffic to stop to let him out as he had waited so long for a gap. This is very dangerous.
Thank you for contacting Highways England about A52 Nottingham junctions. We will prov
The A52 Nottingham Knight junction forms part of the ‘large junctions’ portion within the major scheme package A52 Nottingham Junctions. You can see details on the project webpage, particularly in the public information exhibition leaflets: https://highwaysengland.co.uk/ our-work/ east-midlands/ a52-nottingham-junctions/
These proposed changes would make a substantial betterment to the issues raised, while the A60 entry will remain give way onto the roundabout it will only have to give way to traffic turning right from the south as all traffic on the A52 eastbound going ahead or right will run into a cut-through.
We are aware that the ongoing works and associated traffic management on the A52 Clifton Bridge is impacting on the ‘normal’ flow of traffic on the A52, this has reduced the eastbound flow into A52 Nottingham Knight and reduced queuing here in the evening peak. This in turn may well have increased entry speeds due to traffic being more free flowing during the peak periods at this time.
Kind regards Highways England
