Noise level

Reported via mobile in the Road surface category anonymously at 12:47, Tuesday 17 August 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

We would like to know when this section of the A30 is going to be resurfaced. You have resurfaced up to the tolvaddon junction but not any further and then continued to resurface after the treswithian junction. There is a vast improvement in road noise from the new surface and as our property is less than 50mtrs from the A30 we are finding the traffic noise very disturbing.

Updates

  • Our ref: 22024754 Thank you for your report enquiring about resurfacing on the A30. We're sorry that you're being disrupted by the road noise.

This section of the A30 is currently surfaced with a Hot Rolled Asphalt material, which is still in a reasonably good condition. For this reason, we have no immediate plans to carry out resurfacing at this location. In addition, the postcode you've provided doesn’t fall within a Noise Important Area as defined by Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs.

We do have a pavement renewal scheme planned, but these works aren't expected until 2026/7. These dates are subject to change due to other commitments on the network.

We hope this answers your enquiry. If you have any further queries, please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@highwaysengland.co.uk

    Kind regards,

    Highways England
