Dozens of damaged cut down street lighting columns on the M20 are still missing after many months. They are located along the motorway between J5-J7 near Maidstone. It has caused dark spots on this illuminated section of the motorway.

  • Thank you for contacting Highways England about missing lighting columns on the M20 between junction 5 and 7.

    We are planning to carried out maintenance interventions to improve the levels of lighting the around these junctions.

    With regards to the replacement of these columns they are to be included as part of a future design and replacement scheme for lighting, drainage and safety barriers.
