Unclear lane markings

Sir, when traffic approaches the Wheatcroft Island whilst on the A52 East bound, the signage for the three lanes is very clear. The right hand lane is for the A606 to the A46 junction, whilst the middle and left lanes are for the A52 or Edwalton. But all to often I see vehicles use the middle lane to go all the way around the island to exit on the A606 for the A46 junction. At fault, I think, are the lane markings on the Island which do not make it clear which lane drivers should be in at the exit for the A52 east bound. As a result I often see two vehicles in two different lanes trying to take a bend on the Island and both move into the one lane. Today I saw a petrol tanker and a car collide on this bend. I think the situation could be greatly improved if the line markings we made much clearer as most of them at this point on the island are worn and not clearly visible. it needs to be made absolutely clear that it is the right hand lane (the inside lane on the island) which is used to take the bend around the island for the A606. Those in the middle lane need to be clearly directed onto the East bound A52.

Hello, I can confirm this approach is extremely hazardous. I have seen this happen many many times and as I use the A606 very often to exit at this island I am always very very cautious as all to often I have to avoid a vehicle on my left to avoid a collision. The road markings are appalling and need defining to make motorists clear as to which lane to use. Brian Birks, Keyworth.
