This path is important for residents of Stroud who need to use it to access shops in Petersfield by foot. I would be very grateful if you could get it cut back as soon as possible please. Many thanks. County Councillor Russell Oppenheimer

Hi Russell, I believe you meant this report to go on Winchester Road. Because of the position, it looks like it's been reported to the wrong authority.
Also, since you're a County Councillor -- if this is directed at EHDC, good luck with getting the job done. I personally have found EHDC are taking anywhere between 6 months to a year to resolve very simple issues, or they are failing to sort them at all, and Covid won't cut it as an excuse any more. HCC are at least sorting many of the issues (such as potholes) when reported.

The initiator of this problem report has placed the marker on the critical (non-RoW) path that gives vital access to footpaths : 264/708 & 264/703 and links to the SW corner of the A3/A272 roundabout. This path was never designated as a RoW and responsibility for it's clearance rests with HighwaysEngland/NationalHighways. It is on the (slip-)road side of the fence. It is completely blocked now. I have never seen it in such a non-maintained state. It needs to be cleared URGENTLY. Thanks!

In that case, the report should be re-filed as the (initial) textual content does not describe the location well, and zero photos were attached to the original report which show the severity of the problem.
Additionally, people such as myself have an interest in using footpaths on the outskirts of Petersfield and monitoring issues, so it helps to be specific, so an eye can be kept on them and someone else can chase them up if a task is 'forgotten'. It helps for multiple people to be interested.
I think in this case you may find the report bounced back to you as 'not our problem' or 'can't find the problem', as this often happens when there isn't much context. You should also be aware that follow-up reports do not go to the authority in question.
Having said all that, once you get their attention, I doubt they'll consider the fix a priority, and I expect this report to silently 'disappear' off Fix My Street after around 6 months. I have personally found reporting footpath issues can take multiple years to be resolved, including one footpath which was blocked for about 4 entire years because the council wouldn't have the bridge replaced. So good luck.

^ (Anon) Thanks for your feedback and additional info. As a result I have opened a a new problem report : FMS3058760 . . . on the assumption that my additional comments on this one may not reach the decision makers. Fingers-crossed - let's keep this issue live.

Thank you for contacting National Highways about the overgrown vegetation on the path near the A3.
We are aware of this and the vegetation has been logged for removal. We're unable to provide a better timescale at present, however please be assured the area will be continually monitored.
Kind regards
National Highways
